Tachers posted in far flung areas skip teaching duty | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 21: Many government teachers especially posted away from their habitations, in far off areas, in the schools situated at higher places or in isolated areas etc manage their duties for the evaluation or for other official purposes in order to remain away from their teaching duties. There are many teachers who are running private institutions, tuition centres, business establishment etc and to look after these establishments they also manage their duties for these purposes in nexus with their next seniors. Many such teaching faculty members have close associations with their drawing & disbursing officers (DDOs), head of the institutions, heads of the evaluation centres etc and in convenience with them enjoy rest at their places instead caring for the future of poor children living in remote / rural areas. "Such practices /assignments of such duties especially in favour of teachers without the consultation of concerned DDO, head of the institution have been hampering the teaching and learning process in the schools" said a senior officer of education department. He added on one hand the government schools situated in remote and rural areas already facing shortage of teachers and many high and middle schools are having only between 10-30 percents teachers against the sanctioned posts. The future of the poor children whose parents can't afford their education in private institutions in the towns is not bright due to poor academic standard and they leave their studies after 10th or 12th. The matter of such practices by the teaching members (duties for evaluation/ for other official purposes) is also in the notice of Chief Education Officer(CEO) Lal Hussain. He vide his office order dated 17/11/2018 has directed all the DDOs, heads of the institutions/ heads of evaluation centres to allow only those teachers , evaluators who fall under their clusters and should be deputed by their heads/DDOs concerned by clearly mentioning the need of the deployment with specific period. CEO has also warned strict action against the defaulters. |
