JKICS hails govt decision on Kartarpur Sahib corridor | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 23: Hailing the decision of the Union government to develop Kartarpur Sahib Corridor across the international border of India - Pakistan, as the best tribute paid on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the Chairman JKICS, New Delhi, thanked the Prime Minister and his cabinet for supporting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and the followers of the first Sikh Guru across the world. "I thank Modi government for its thoughtful decision of helping pilgrims of all religious communities who follow Guru Nanak Dev ji's teachings to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan and get His blessings," Chairman JKICS, SS Sodhi said during a meeting with members of the committee. He also urged everyone to respect all religions and create atmosphere of love, peace and communal harmony, as a part of our democratic duty. "Guru Nanak Dev ji is not only a Sikh guru, but a guru of all religions and faiths. The government initiative of developing Kartarpur Sahib Corridor will go a long way in strengthening India's rich religious diversity," Sodhi added. This corridor would be build from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab's Gurdaspur district to the International Border with Pakistan to facilitate pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib on the banks of the river Ravi in Pakistan. |
