Akhnoor, Dec 26: One-week special campaign on Prevention of Aids to aware the masses was commenced by Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sangeet (BLSKS) today in close coordination with J&K State Aids Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education and government of Jammu & Kashmir. The weeklong event is being hosted at the Government Boys High School, Department of Education, Akhnoor and Sub District Hospital Department of Health and Medical Education, Akhnoor. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest S.S.Rathore, Principal Government. Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor Dr. Anil Sharma Block Medical Officer, Akhnoor was Guest of Honor. The special guest was Gauri Ram, Vice Principal and Dr. Deepak Sharma Sr. Lecturer were present on the occasion. During the campaign, the artists of BLSKS would cover the blocks like R.S. Pura and Dansal. S.S.Rathore said that HIV does not spread through casual contact with other people, such as hugging, sharing cutlery or shaking hands - the virus simply doesn't survive long outside of the body. It also does not spread through sweat, tears, vomit, feces or urine. He further informed the audience how HIV Aids is spread among the human body and said BLSKS in creating awareness on the subject by staging colorful cultural programs comprising of skits, dances, songs and plays and also urged the artists, cultural organizations to contribute in enriching of the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to follow the footprints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the Nation. Different plays and songs were performed by artists of BLSKS. Short Play 'Nai Chetna' was written by M.L.Dogra, Chairman BLSKS. The songs were sung by the artist of BLSKS and the music was assisted by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor BLSKS. During the campaign in overall 7 programs will be presented in Jammu District. M.L. Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS explained about the ideally, a health facility should have one integrated counseling and testing center for all groups of people. However, an ICTC is located in facilities that serve specific categories such as high-risk group, pregnant women, STI cases, TB Patients, HIV/ AIDS symptomatic patients. Accordingly, an ICTC is located in the General OPD or Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of a medical college or a district hospital or in a maternity home where the majority of clients can access counseling and testing services. |
