Cracks resurface in JRL over Yasin's arrest
12/26/2018 10:42:04 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 26: The cracks have resurfaced in the so called Joint Resistance Leadership after the arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik who is a part of the JRL.
Sources said the JKLF leadership has conveyed to the other constituents of the JRL that it was unfortunate that they were silent and didn't call for hartal over the arrest of Yasin, who has been arrested in connection with case of attempt to murder.
Sources said the JKLF has conveyed to Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani that their silence was "speaking volumes about their intentions."
Sources said the JKLF apprehends that Mirwaiz and Geelani are happy over Malik's arrest as he was "trying to gain more of publicity through the JRL."
Sources said the JKLF leaders have spoken about the matter with Yasin Malik who is understood to have agreed that the Hurriyat leaders may be happy over his arrest.
Sources said the JKLF leaders believe that the Hurriyat leaders would want that Malik remains behind the bars.
A source said the JKLF was expecting that Hurriyat to call for a hartal against Yasin Malik's arrest but that the party has been silent.
It is not for the first time that the cracks have developed in the so called JRL.
In the last few months, the leaders especially Yasin Malik often locked horns with the other members of the JRL.
"Each of them thinks that the other one is having some connection with the government and uses the same against each other," said a source close to the Hurriyat leaders.
Sources said Mirwaiz is being pressurized to call a meeting of the JRL to decide about hartal call against Malik's arrest.
"But the issue is that they (Hurriyat leaders) are themselves scared of getting arrested and thus want to be away from such controversies," said the sources.
A source close to the JKLF said they have contacted their handlers in Pakistan to decide upon the future course of action.
