Students allege protesting females pushed, CUJ refutes allegation | CUJ students, administration at loggerheads | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 15: The students of the Central University of Jammu have alleged that the administration of the University pushed female students during a protest over the hike in transport charges and didn't try to solve the issue despite repeated attempts, however, the management of the Varsity refuted the allegations leveled by students. The hundreds of students from different departments boycotted classes on Tuesday, besides staging a protest to condemn the hike. They staged protest demonstration over increased transport charges and against the varsity's decision. They accused administration of hiking bus fare to Rs1000 per month from 1000 per annum and students are being forced to pay for those services which they are not availing. "Employees of the varsity pushed the women students during protest and when the students went to Vice Chancellor to take up the matter, the VC didn't respond to us," students told Early Times, adding that they had met with concerned authorities but they got a cold response from them, forcing to come on road and stage protest dharna against the decision. Dean Students Welfare, Prof Deepak Pathania said that CUJ was spending lakhs on transport per month and claimed that the University is not getting any transport fund form the Central Government, therefore, the administration has decided to hike the bus fare. |
