Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Jan 22: Despite many centrally sponsored schemes by GoI in place, scores of villages in Langate are facing scarcity of safe drinking water on regular basis. The matter was raised witht he concerned time and again without results, the locals said. The villages that face water shortage are Chontipora, Audoora, Nowgam, Drungsoo, Khudi and other adjacent areas, sources told early times. The locals said the government of Jammu and Kashmir is receiving huge financial assistance from the Union Government for the benefit of rural populace and one could imagine and witness that nothing is found visible on ground. They said that the pipe lines in various areas are damaged and need immediate repair. Most of the household members from these area are fetching water from outside the village. "The fear of water borne diseases looms large on the villages," they said. |
