Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized the 1st 'ChemForum' Lecture Series on 'Drug Design and Discovery'. 'ChemForum' is a platform to introduce students of chemistry to emerging areas of chemical sciences by eminent scientists. It provides an opportunity for interaction of young minds and faculty members with distinguished researchers from academic institutions as well as from industries. Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima, inaugurated the 1st 'Chem Forum' Lecture Series. In his presidential address he emphasized the need for the discovery of novel drugswith the current need of the society. Dr Sridharan Vellaisamy, HoD, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences welcomed the gathering, and Prof Devanand, Dean, School of Basic and Applied Sciences highlighted the significance of ChemForum in his address. Dr Tapta Kanchan Roy, Assistant Professor delivered the vote of thanks. Professor Pawan Kumar Sharma, Department of Chemistry, Kurukshetra University delivered a talk on 'Future Therapies: Paradigm shift in drug design and discovery' followed by Dr Qazi Naveed Ahmed from CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu. Dr Naveed enlightened the students with his talk on 'Modern drug discovery: A rationale approach'. |
