Contractor collecting bus adda fee deposits fake cheque | | | M S Nazki

Poonch, Jan 27: With an intention to loot the state exchequer, contractor Nisar Ahmed S/o Mohd Shah of Kalaban who was the highest bidder for collecting Bus Adda fee contract for the year 2018-2019 has been accused of fraud. Sources said that against an amount of Rs 24 lakh per annum, he was supposed to pay 50% advance at the time of contract accorded to him vide order No 2517-25 BM/29/31/2018. With the active connivance of officials of the department, he not only deposited a fake cheque of Rs 12 lakh but also deposited just Rs 4 lakh by now, they added. It is pertinent to mention here that every year contract of collecting Adda fee from the commercial as well as light motor vehicles and parked vehicles on the yearly basis and the highest bidder has to pay fifty percent of the total contract at the line when he is accorded the contract and rest of the amount he is supposed to pay in three equal instalments before expiry of the contract. The action committee which is headed by SDM, BDO, Naib Tehsildar and VLW had to ensure that the bidder deposits the contract amount before commencement of the contract but in this case the norms were thrown into bin as department maintained silence over the fake cheque of Rs 12 lakh deposited by the defaulter contractor Nisar Ahmed Early Times contacted ACD Poonch Abdul Qayoom to have his quote on the issue but to the much surprise he showed ignorance over the matter. Meanwhile, the locals have sought stern action against the erring officials and the contractor. |
