PDP leaders believe they are VIPs! | 'They can't sit with junior officials, its below their dignity' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27: Two Members of Legislative Council of the Peoples Democratic Party Naeem Akther and Khurshid Alam have alleged that they were humiliated by the Governor's administration on the occasion of Republic Day. They walked out from the venue in Srinagar for being seated with junior officials. "It's strange that only two MLCs raised hue and cry and made a mountain of the mole hill. No other MLC or former MLA complained about the seating arrangement," said an official. He said that the security around the Republic Day venue had been tightened in wake of the inputs that militants were planning to carry out a major strike and the venue of the main Republic Day function was their main target. "Whosoever attended the Republic Day function had to park his vehicle at some distance and walk. Just walking a few meters annoyed the PDP legislators and took it as a humiliation. Seating arrangement was made in such a way so that important people remain safe. No one raised any objection but two VIPs took it as an insult," the official added. A politician while talking to Early Times said that PDP leaders have developed a habit to crib about everything. "Since the day they have been ousted from power they have left no chance to target the Governor's administration. Naeem Akther and Khurshid Alam walked out from the venue to hog the headlines as PDP leaders want to keep themselves relevant," he claimed. The politician said that PDP leaders are just trying to "make noise" to attract attention towards them and are indulging in "publicity stunts" to tell the people that they exist. "Their only aim and motive seems to point out flaws as they have been sidelined by New Delhi and even the people. Naeem Akther has said that he won't lodge a formal protest but Khurshid Alam Bhat has said that he would file a privilege motion," he added. An analyst said that PDP leaders after losing power stand exposed. "Their party has been decimated and they are standing on crossroads. They have realized that their future is bleak and if they don't make any noise they would become a history," he added. A Kashmir watcher said that Naeem Akther, who is talking about humiliation, seems to have forgotten that how he humiliated the entire teaching fraternity when he was the Education Minister of the state. "Even after losing power Akther is yet to come at terms with the reality. He should realize that he is no more a VIP as the times have changed and the VIP culture is disappearing fast. Making headlines won't help and him and his party's cause," he added. |
