PM's visit mere an eyewash: Manjit Singh | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Feb 4: Former Minister and District President Congress Samba today said that yesterday's visit of PM Narendra Modi was just an eye wash to befool the people of Jammu. He said that Modi was speaking in Vijaypur nearer to border but did not discuss issues of farmers and youth of the area. Manjit Singh said that BJP government is taking the issues of border residents lightly and nothing has been done for the poor people and farmers whose land is near zero line. He said that the people on Line of Control are enjoying reservation rights while the International Border people are forced to face troubles. "The Government must give reservation to the International Border residents so that their children can get employment, admission in professional institutions and other sectors for their economic upliftment," he added. He further also demanded compensation for the land ahead of fencing and also demanded special recruitment drive for the border areas. He also alleged that BJP has discriminated Jammu in a well planned manner as first the schools were closed and then the teaching faculty was reduced. On the issue of 5 Marla plots PM Modi even not uttered a single word on this issue which is still burning issue. He said there is need to provide reservation to the border people of Samba, Kathua, Bishnah and RS Pura in Jammu, as provided to the ALC category. Congress leader demanded that special recruitment drive be launched for the border youth and they should be provided quota in professional institutions. |
