Early Times Report RAJOURI, Feb 4: To begin with series of activities for celebrating the road safety week in the district, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) today organized first awareness programme at new bus stand Rajouri wherein a large number of people including senior citizens, social activists, media persons and students participated. District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who was the chief guest on the occasion, flagged off an awareness rally on "Road Safety" which was taken out from the bus stand and passed through main roads, and finally culminated at PWD Dak Bungalow Rajouri. The students in the rally were holding flags, banners, pamphlets and posters for disseminating information on road safety among commuters, drivers and other local people. Press club Rajouri member, Sumit Bhargav said that there is need to start a government driving institute in Rajouri and to impart training among people before issuing the driving license. While SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, in his message appealed the people not to allow their children to drive without having a driving license and emphasized for organizing more camps in the district to aware people about the safety rules. Speaking on the occasion, DDC advised the participants to avoid over speeding, overloading, drunken driving, use of mobile while driving, wrong over taking and underage driving to stop loss of precious human lives and asked the participants to take all necessary measures for enjoying safe driving and healthy life. |
