Colloqium organised in CUJ on World Cancer Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 4: On the occasion of World Cancer Day the Central University of Jammu organised a colloqium on cancer awareness at the main campus in association with LBNROH, a cancer careFoundation Trust. A debate was organised on the topic "Cancer is Preventable?"in which students from various science departments participated. Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean School of Life Science, Prof. B.S. Bhau, Head Department of Botany; Dr. Deepak Kumar, Dr. Ashok Yadav, Dr. Shvetambri Jasrotia, along with other faculty members were present on this occasion. Hon'ble VC, Prof. Ashok Aima later expressed his statisfaction on the organisation of this event and highligted the importance of such awareness programmes. All the speakers enthusatically spoke on the topic with some sharing their personal experince indealing with the problem of cancer. Ashish Badyal, who favoured vegetarianism as a way to prevent cancer was judged the best speaker. Prof. Tripathi along with Prof. Bhau highlighted the importance of cancer awareness and early dignosis. Prof. Bhau stressed on the need to have regular medical checkups to detect the cancer early on. Dr. Audesh Bhat, who was organiser of this event briefly described what cancer is and how it is reponsible for millions of deaths globally including India. |
