Media professionals imparted VVPAT training at Kathua | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 6: To spread electoral literacy among the voters, District Election Authority, Kathua organised awareness cum training program for media professionals regarding EVM/VVPAT under the supervision of District Election Officer, Rohit Khajuria here today. Media professionals were imparted training on the subject by the national level master trainer Chand Kishore who is also the Deputy District Election Officer and stressed upon the trainees to take keen interest in the training programme so that poll process will be carried out smoothly and in a peaceful manner. Master trainers for the operation of the EVMs and VVPAT machines informed the trainees about its functioning in detail. It was informed that the VVPAT will be used for the first time in the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha in 2019. The trainers were explained about the functioning of Ballot Unit, Control Unit and other allied functions and operations of the electronic voting machines. At the outset, DEO, Rohit Khajuria said that VVPAT is used for the first time in J&K and directed the Dy DEO to organize maximum number of awareness camps to sensitize people regarding its use along the length and breadth of the district. He also stated that the use of VVPAT will repose the faith of voters in democratic process through transparency as the VVPAT displays the serial number, name and symbol of the candidate whom the vote is casted for 7 seconds to assure the voter that his vote is casted to the candidate of his desire. |
