Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: A Housing Cooperative which has constructed over one hundreds flats, has repeatedly been encroaching upon a season rivulet by constructing juggies for labourers in Upper Chowadi area. Moreover the Housing cooperative has reportedly refused to provide facilities as promised during the purchase of flats. According to the sources, a Housing Cooperative has constructed 120 flats of 3 BHK each and initial cost of flat started from Rs. 38 Lakhs and some even crossed Rs. 52 lakhs. "When the flats were purchased from the Housing Cooperative Limited, they had promised to provide various facilities such as playground, Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP), power backup, tube-well for round the water supply", sources said, adding that but after all the flats have been sold by the Cooperative, they have not been listening to the grievances of the inmates. On the name of playground, there is a piece of 3-4 Marlas of land due to which children are forced to play on tracks, sources said, adding that in absence of any Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), the sewerage was being dumped in the seasonal rivulet, flowing behind the flats, from where foul smell emanated all the time. "The Housing Cooperative have encroached upon vast tracts of state land of seasonal rivulet by constructing juggies for labourers", sources said, adding that over several Kanals of land has already been encroached by the Housing Cooperative in connivance with the concerned department. The sources further alleged that on papers the Housing Cooperative has merely 120 Kanals of land but they have acquired over 160 Kanals of land out of which a large tract was of Forest land on State land. "It is beyond imagination as how such a big colony was allowed to be established by the concerned department, when the basic facilities are unavailable such as STP, playground and water facility etc", sources said, alleging that before selling of flats, the Housing management was taking care of inmates grievances and addressed the same but now after all the flats have been sold, the management is not even ready to listen to the grievances. |
