HC seeks details of student-teacher ratio in coaching centers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 6: : The State High Court on Wednesday directed the Commissioner Secretary Education department to submit details regarding teacher-student ration in the tuition centers in Jammu and Kashmir. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation on illegal and unregistered Private Tuition Centers across the state, a division bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Sanjeev Kumar sought fee structure fixed by the coaching centres. The petition was filed in 2016 before the court for closing down all the illegal and unregistered private tuition centers in the Valley and thereafter the scope of the PIL was extended to across the state. Subsequently, the court formed a high level panel asking it to close down all the unregistered coaching centers. Later directions were issued for Jammu division also. The directions followed submissions by the counsel for petitioner that despite repeated directions, the authorities have passed various orders which do not meet with the mandate of the court directions from time to time. Among others, he said, student-teachers ration in the coaching centers has not been address in tune with court orders. The Court has also been informed that no fee structure in these tuition centers has been fixed and these centers are fixing the fee at their own. He submitted before the court that he has submitted the full compilation in this regard and submitted before the court already. No response till date has been filed by the authorities, he added. |
