Is PDP extension of banned Jamaat-e-Islami?
3/6/2019 11:19:56 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 6: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti has gone all out to prove that her party is directly linked with banned Jamaat-e-Islami. She led a protest against ban on JeI at Anantnag in south Kashmir on Wednesday and demanded that the ban should be lifted forthwith.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that by staging a protest against the ban on Jamaat, Mehbooba Mufti is trying to address her constituency and wants to drive home a point that she stands with Jamaat and its supporters. "By staging protest she has vindicated the stand of the nationalist people that BJP had entered into an alliance with an anti-national party which had won 28 assembly seats in last elections due to her party entering into a tactical alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami," he added.
The analyst said, "When PDP was ruling Jammu and Kashmir it went out of way to help the Jamaat activists. They were allowed to carry on with anti-national activities without any fear of law enforcing agencies. Even if police used to arrest any Jamaat activist he used to get released after the intervention of a PDP leader. In fact Mehbooba Mufti gave general amnesty to 10,000 stone-pelters, out of which maximum belonged to Jamaat, in Kashmir. "
A Kashmir watcher said that "PDP during its tenure encouraged radical elements and provided them with an opportunity to vitiate the atmosphere in the Valley. Crackdown against Jamaat-e-Islami has led to the decline in violence levels in Kashmir as the brain behind the terrorists and stone-pelters are cooling their heels in prisons."
He said that "The so-called All Parties Hurriyat Conference was actually run by the Jamaat activists as they are the ones who used to advise the Geelani, Mirwaiz and others to call for the strikes and glorify terrorism and terrorists. There are reports that government is also planning to impose a ban on Hurriyat and its activities in Kashmir. Besides banning these Pakistani agents the Government of India should take a stern action against the pseudo mainstream parties, which despite enjoying all privileges keep on dancing to the tunes of Pakistan. They also need to be a taught a lesson so that it could be made clear to them that they cannot keep on opposing the decisions of GoI to appease the people who preach sedition."
An expert said, "PDP president Mehbooba Mufti should realize that entire country has raised its voice against terrorists and their supporters. Jamaat has been instrumental in reviving terrorism in Kashmir and the people who support that organization sail in the same boat and they need to be dealt in the same way."
