DEO Jammu launches SVEEP- 2019 campaign | | | JAMMU Mar 16: The District Election Officer Jammu Ramesh Kumar today formally launched Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation campaign to boost the preparedness for upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district The DEO also chaired a meeting with the representatives of civil societies, market associations, BAR Association, Chartered Accountant Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industries and other organizations to discuss the activities under SVEEP-2019 in the Jammu district. Deputy DEO Gul Hussain, ADC Tahir Firdous, ACD Aizaz Qaiser, BDOs, Principles of various GDCs, members of Electoral Literacy Club and senior officers of the concerned department were also present in the meeting. DEO asked the officers for holding awareness campaigns under SVEEP across the district. He said that a number of steps towards motivation and mobilization of voters in the election process have been formulated. He also asked the representatives of various associations present in the meeting for their support and cooperation in sensitizing the voters to cast their franchise. The associations assured full support and assistance in motivating and inspiring the voters to cast their ballot for strengthening democracy. The DEO said that awareness programmes would be organized in every polling booth across the district regarding EVM/VVPAT machines to ensure that maximum people can learn and optimize the use of these machines for massive electoral participation. He informed that ECI's endeavour is to make elections more inclusive with the use of Apps like c-VIGIL App which provides time-based stamp, evidence-based proof of the Model Code of Conduct Violation having live photo/video facility with auto data location. The DEO also assured all basic facilities in all the polling stations in the district, especially for people with disabilities, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He also said that Model Polling stations will be established. He further informed that there is a toll-free number 1590 to provide assistance to all citizens regarding elections. |
