Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 16: One-day brain storming meeting sponsored by the Department of Science Technology and Innovation Council, Govt. of J&K, on emerging health issues in rural women from J&K Region with special emphasis on maternal and child health was conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The meeting started with a welcome address by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Organizing Secretary and Principal Coordinator, Indian Council of Medical Research-Center of Advanced Research (ICMR-CAR), SMVDU. The meeting addressed the crucial issues related to maternal and child health. Prof. RNK Bamezai from JNU and Prof. Geeta Bamezai from IIMC, New Delhi, chaired the meeting. Representative of majority of the institutes of the State attended the meeting. Also Dr. Raina, Dr. Pandita, Dr. Hameed, CUK, Cannie, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Sahani, Dr. Dewan, Dr. Bhat and Dr. Vashnavi from CUJ; Dr. MA Bhat, Joint Director Department of Science Technology and Innovation Council, Jammu/Srinagar. Kalsotra, DPO/Jammu, Rimpy Ohri, DPO/Jammu, Dr. Bushra Medical Officer/SMD, Dr. Rita Kumari, Medical Officer, ICDS, Project Jammu. Dr. Saurabh, SMVDU threw light on different aspects on management issues related to medical health. Prof. Bamezai suggested identifying rural women's overall health status and their access to health care services. He emphasized on continued evaluation of medical aid managed care program and its impact upon perinatal care and outcomes. |
