Jammu, Mar 16: Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) celebrated 22nd Annual function by giving away scholarships to 600 students, out of which 80 per cent of the students are girls from rural areas with financially weak family background. Sucha Singh, councilor of the Ward No. 31, Talab Tillo Jammu was the guest of honour. He interacted with children and lauded the efforts of HBET. Children travelled from distant villages Hiranagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangraii, Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar and other areas to participate in the function along with their families. The Managing Trustee, Kunil Bhalla dwelt on the activities of the Trust and its future vision. He said that since its inception in 1997, the Trust has so far provided educational support worth Rs. 1 Crore 50 Lakh. He said that in addition to providing monetary assistance to the students of the weaker strata of the society, the Trust also organizes free medical camps, treatment and medicines for the children and their families. The managing trustee stressed that every year additional 40-50 new scholarships are added. Bright and needy children can apply to the trust for selection. Educational support to children is provided by HBET team through its grass root activities like mentor ship Program, Summer Camps, Rewards Programs. |
