Sajad 'divorces' BJP, ridicules scribes for calling him BJP ally | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 23: Former ally of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Sajad Gani Lone is these days doing everything to shun his previous image- sometimes bashing the media persons for calling him BJP's ally and sometimes opposing the decisions taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Friday while accompanying the Lok Sabha candidate of his party from Baramula parliamentary constituency, Lone was cornered by media persons who asked him questions pertaining to the present political situation of the state. While Lone, otherwise known for his sagacious approach while dealing with the media, was bashing NC, PDP and Congress, he lost his cool when a journo asked him whether BJP will support him and whether his party is still in alliance with the BJP. "I don't know from which school of journalism you have come," was angered Lone's reply to the media person. He further bashed him by saying that his party is contesting alone and doesn't enjoy external or internal support from any quarter. "You should know that BJP too is fielding its candidate from Baramulla constituency," Lone said. As per the reports, this former separatist leader is these days busy in his image makeover, doing everything by virtue of which he wouldn't be called the BJP man in Kashmir. However, what is the PC chairman forgetting is the fact that staked claim for the government formation on November 21 with the help of BJP and he served as a minister in the cabinet of the previous coalition from BJP's quote only. However, since the dissolution of assembly, Lone has been distancing himself from the BJP in public gatherings and during the TV interviews. "Please understand that I am not an ally of the BJP in the state," Sajad Lone said in an interview with the New Delhi based TV news channel when asked why is he opposing the BJP's policies in the state when he himself is the party's ally. Meanwhile, Sajad's statement has clarified the otherwise entangled scenario in which it was widely being speculated that Sajad Lone is going to be the party's Chief Ministerial candidate in the state. BJP had earlier drawn flak over the reports of choosing chief ministerial candidate outside the party with many political groups taunting it for such a bizarre measure. Former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has also cornered the BJP over its choice of selecting Chief Ministerial candidate. "The BJPs bravado to have its own chief minister from Jammu fell flat twice, first by stitching alliance with 28-member PDP in 2015 and later while unsuccessfully attempting to form the government by surrendering before a party with two MLAs from North Kashmir", Omar Abdullah has said in his earlier statement, asking with which face the BJP will now go to the electors of Jammu in upcoming elections, who know that after seeking their mandate they will again fall in the trap and lap of a few MLAs from Kashmir to share the power. |
