DEO Kathua dances to BJP tunes: Vikramaditya Singh
Permits filing nomination Mar 23 but withdraws permission on Mar 22 midnight
3/23/2019 11:13:39 PM
Jammu, Mar 23: Congress candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat Vikramaditya Singh has alleged that District Election Officer Kathua has been dancing to the tune of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) as after giving written permission for filing nomination he asked to postpone the nomination filing in a midnight call. Singh was schedule to file nomination papers at the office of District Election Office Kathua on March 23 but had to postpone the filing of nomination. "I had called DEO Kathua over phone few days ago and sought permission to file nomination papers on March 23. I got the written permission letter from the office of DEO Kathua on March 22, but it was at around midnight that I got a phone call from DEO Kathua, who informed that on 23 nomination papers will not be accepted", Vikramaditya Singh said. Singh further said that when he insisted that his office had sent him a written permission for filing March 23 nomination he said that he had forgotten to inform that on March 23 it was a bank holiday. "If it was a bank holiday, they must have informed us in advance but there is no communication from DEO and even Chief Election Officer of Jammu and Kashmir has not issued any communication", Vikramaditya said. He further said that it was evidently clear from the attitude of DEO Kathua that he was dancing to the tunes of BJP. It was also unclear as why no notification was not issued by CEO office Kathua regarding bank holiday on March 23. "On the contrary, Jammu and Kashmir Bank was opened for March 23 and March 24 for convenience of public as per notification", a politician said, adding that there must not be any confusion over the dates about election process as it created a wrong impression about the authority of DEO. Deputy District Election Officer Kathua Ashwani Kumar said that it was communication for across the state to not accept nominations on March 23. On questioned when the office of DEO Kathua got communication about holiday on March 23rd, he didn't give any satisfactory reply. DEO Kathua Rohit Khajuria was not available.
