Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 23: Despite repeated threats from the terror outfits, the Jammu and Kashmir government has withdrawn security from the Editor-in-Chief of the daily Early Times thereby jeopardizing his life. The development has taken place at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi taught a lesson to the terror outfits across the border and has pledged to fight terror with full might. But the government in Jammu and Kashmir seems to be working against the vision of the iconic PM who enjoys massive public support in his fight against terrorism and corruption.
Official documents reveal that Early Times is the only newspaper from Jammu whose security has been withdrawn, raising eyebrows over the intentions of those who implemented the controversial orders, which have put to risk the life and property of a media house, essentially fighting for the cause of victimized Dogra community as the nationalist voice.
The withdrawal of security that comprised of mere two Personal Security Officers has come at a time when this Jammu based-newspaper had been receiving threats from terror outfits and it was expected that security cover would actually be beefed up to prevent any possible attack.
But the discrimination with one particular media house is enough to convey the reasons behind decision when even little known journalists enjoy more security.
For Early Times , the security withdrawal has come exactly w
'Is there a plot to eliminate nationalist voice of Dogra's reporting facts fearlessly?'
en the newspaper had been exposing the blacksheep in the state government, against whom allegations of corruption and favoritism had been on rise.
While Early Times was the only newspaper fearlessly exposing the rot in the system, some in the government seem to have gone for witch-hunt to settle personal scores.
Apart from threat calls from terror groups within the state, Early Times has been receiving numerous warnings from separatists Amid such a precarious situation when the terrorist attacks have been on rise even in Jammu city and three such attacks took place near the Early Times office here alone, the government seems to have made apprehended elimination of Early Times editor in chief more possible for the anti-national elements.
The government has already stopped giving the due share of advertisements to the newspapers as it was unwilling to compromise on journalistic ethics in reporting facts.
Official sources said some in the government who are guilty of corruption believe that after removal of security cover the media house will "surrender".
But the Early Times has dispelled such notion being propounded by those behind withdrawal of the security.
A senior functionary of the Early Times said: "Withdrawal of security may be part of the larger plot to eliminate the national voice of Dogra's fighting against corruption and terrorism, but we'll continue to expose the rot even more brazenly. Jai Hind".
