2020 will be Jammu and Kashmir’s deadline to India: Mehbooba to Amit Shah | | | Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the relationship between India and Jammu and Kashmir will end if article 370 is abrogated in the state in 2020.
The PDP president was responding to BJP president Amit Shah’s comments who had said that by 2020 the special status of Jammu and Kashmir will be revoked.
Mehbooba Mufti made the remarks in Anantnag where she filed her nomination papers for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat comprising of four South Kashmir districts, Pulwama, Islamabad (Anantnag), Shopian and Kulgam.
Speaking to media, Mehbooba said that she is contesting the elections to stop the bloodshed in Kashmir valley. “I will try to fulfill the dreams of my late father whose dream was to resolve the issue of Jammu Kashmir,”
In response to the Bhartiya Janta Party Amit Shah’s statement that article 35A and 370 will be removed in 2020, she said that if it is done that in 2020 Kashmir will be a free and a separate country. “Kashmir will end its relation with India if Article 370 is removed in 2020, that will be the final year of Kashmir with India.”
She also condemned Shah’s statement that Article 370 will be removed by 2020.
“2020 will then also be J&K’s deadline to the country, ” she said.
Mufti said AFSPA revocation and other pledges in Congress manifesto related to Jammu and Kashmir were same as PDP-BJP agenda of alliance .
Earlier, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah had said that the party will work to reinstate a separate Prime Minister and president for Jammu and Kashmir
