KPs to boycott LS elections: Panun Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 6: In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Panun Kashmir led by its President Vijay Bhat had a meeting in Jammu to take stock of situation about the issues being confronted by the Kashmiri Pandits regarding their participation in the current Lok Sabha polls. Vijay Bhat said that the pain and agony of Kashmiri Pandits expressed and shared by Prime minister is a matter of satisfaction. Prime Minister had reiterated the tragic genocide of Kashmiri Pandits at the hands of Jihadists in valley but did not do enough for their return and rehabilitation in valley despite the lapse of more than 30 years in suffering. He had already accepted that the era of violence and terrorism during which they had to flee their homes is a dark chapter in India's history. Panun Kashmir expressed surprise and shock over the conspicuous absence of the issues pertaining to KPs like passing of Temple and Shrine bill and return & rehabilitation, in the recent manifestos released by various political parties including mainstream regional as well as national parties. It seems that these parties are using KP community as a doormat and use it when it suits them and then keep it under carpet and are not serious enough to take care of us. Convenor Ravinder Jalali said that disenfranchise the KPs in Lok Sabha election is a biggest human rights and constitutional rights violation. It is sad that the KPs who have been living in other parts of country outside valley had been disenfranchised and are being forced to vote for the valley candidates and in valley only when their basic demands are not fulfilled. |
