Politicians unite on Kashmir highway, but no one speaks of aggression in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6: Even as various political parties spoke in one voice over the two day ban on civilian movement on national highway in Kashmir making the government come up with a clarification on the issue, none of such politicians is speaking about the plight of people facing Pakistani aggression along the LoC and the border in Jammu. From the Congress and the Bharatiya Janta Party to the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party leaders from various political parties didn't miss a moment to speak on behalf of the people of Kashmir over the two-day ban on civilian movement along the Baramulla-Udhampur highway. Following a major outcry from one and all, the state government on April 5, called a press conference to give clarification that there would be no restrictions on the movement of patients, students and other civilians. But amid this concern for Kashmir and its people, the innocent victims of Jammu who live along the fence with the enemy country remain unheard. After the Balakote airstrike on the terror camps in Pakistan, their forces have only intensified attacks on the Indian soil in Jammu region. Just this week alone one person was killed and several injured in various incidents of Pakistani shelling in districts like Rajauri and Poonch in Jammu region. This year alone, around one dozen persons including security forces have lost their lives in Pakistani aggression that has also affected normal life in the border regions. But instead of speaking on the issue, the politicians are only busy with appeasement in Kashmir. "The ban on public movement was only to safeguard the lives of security forces and that too for a limited period of around two months, but the politicians didn't miss a chance to make government issue clarification but when it comes to the rights of the people of Jammu, these netas are least bothered," said a analyst from Jammu city. It is pertinent to mention that since the inception of militancy in Kashmir, the focus of politicians has been the valley whereas the Jammu province remains ignored. |
