Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj releases Navreh Koshur calendar

Jammu, Apr 6: Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj released Navreh Koshur calender on new year Naveh Poshtu.
While briefing the press conference, Kuldip Khoda explained the essence of the festival Navreh, celebrated in Kashmir valley and also in other parts of the country.
Kiran Wattal said, Navreh is the Lunar New Year which is celebrated in Kashmir and also m many part of the country with great enthusiasm, zeal and zest and sanctity.
It was on the eve of Navreh that the Kulguru of a pandit family would get a new almanac Nachrpatra-Sanskrit (Nakshetra Patri and an illustrated scroll kreel pach with a sacred picture of Maa Sharika on it.
Formerly the Nachipatn used to be in the form of a tolled scroll but now it has taken the form of a small booklet known as Jantari. Before one day, Kashmiri pandits in the Kashmir valley would visit to the sacred spring Vichar Nag and would take a holy dip in its waters to cast off the wintery sloth and impurities Kuldeep Khuda said, that according to the legend, the SAPTA Rishis assembled on the Sharika Parvata (Hari Parbat) the abode of the Goddess Sharika Mata, at the auspicious moment when the first raj- of the sun fell on the Chakreshvara on this day and paid tribute to her. He added that astrologers made the moment as the basis of their calculation of the Nava Varsha Pratipada , making the beginning of the Saptarishi era. Accordingly, now today is the first day of samvat 5095 (Saptarishi) which is oldest calendar of the world.
