Specially abled girl from Udhampur take lead to save birds from scorching heat | | | Arun Jasrotia
EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, April 29:
In a bid to save birds from the scorching heat a Specially abled girl Smile Sharma student of BMS second year, age 19 years from Govind Nagar Udhampur has taken lead by arranging water in waste plastic materials and mud pots in her house so that a message of humanity could be spread among the society. She said that the summer has been here for a while now and as Udhampur heats up, literally, we are all looking for ways to cool ourselves. If the heat can bother us, why not birds too? Adding that now a day the pollution level has increased due to which the birds’ population is getting decreased as the water sources are also depleting. Smile further said,“With summer worsening, most of the water sources of the birds have dried up. Not only humans, but animals too get affected due to the increase in temperature and suffer from dehydration. From this single mud pot, at least 100 birds can drink water”. She added that by keeping an earthen pot filled with water in their balconies or terrace and by scattering bajra (millet) or rice for their tiny little guests, we could extend a helping hand for them to feast on adding that a higher and collective initiative is needed to help these birds to co-exist with us. |
