Panthers to hold protest at Udhampur on May 20 | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 17: Panthers Party is going to stage dharna over the polluted water supply at Udhampur on May 20 at Kheri Near Jakhani from where all city waste dumped at Tawi River from where the water is supplied to whole city. This was stated by Former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia in a press conference here today at Udhampur. Expressing deep anguish over the casual approach of Administration & concerned department, Mankotia said that many times protests, memorandums have been submitted to authorities & even last week all the Councillors of Panthers Party had also submitted memorandum to Deputy Commissioner & President MCU Udhampur to change the place of dumping point but nothing has been done yet in this concern. Mankotia said that from the beginning of this year NPP started month long door to door awareness campaign which concludes with massive protest march. He disclosed that from last 4 years all the city waste including the dead bodies of Animals were dumped in Tawi river at Kheri near Jakhani from where the water supplied to whole city due to which various types of diseases are spreading in which "Thyroid" is spreading in very fast rate in Udhampur, Where as Udhampur ranked 2nd in the country for polluted water supply which was disclosed in training session for Councillors recently held at Jammu, Mankotia added. Showing deep concern over this issue, Mankotia said that in this dharna they will not allow the Municipality Vehicles to dump waste in Tawi river at Kheri near Jakhani. Mankotia cautioned to shift the dumping point from Tawi river earlier otherwise NPP will forced to launch strong agitation. |
