TSO Kishtwar attached for ration fraud | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, May 17: The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana, on Friday ordered attachment of Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Saroop Chand and Storekeeper Ghulam Nabi Khanday for "gross dereliction of duties." A government order said complaints were put forth by various deputations regarding non-issuance of ration supply and casual approach of TSO Kishtwar and Storekeeper Kishtwar, besides inordinate delay in delivering the public services. acting tough against the erring employees having non-serious approach towards their duties, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar attached Saroop Chand and Khanday in the office of AD FCS&CA Kishtwar till the outcome of requisite enquiries initiated against them are completed. Similar reports of embezzlement of ration have been received from Thakrie store also falling under the jurisdiction of TSO Kishtwar. The order stated that the committee constituted by the office of DC Kishtwar vide No. 22-ADFCS&CAK of 2018 dated 10-8-2018, submitted that 514.82 quintal of Atta and 749.91 quintal of rice was found short in Kishtwar store as per the book balance, but the department failed to initiate any action against the erring TSO who sold the ration meant for the public in black-market. Not stopping here, the TSO continued to sold the public ration, as a result of which the dealer association Kishtwar lodged a written complaint with th department that the dealers did not receive the ration on time as a result of which there is resentment among the people including among the people of Poochal village who also approached the office of ADDC Kishtwar through their Sarpanch Kamlesha Devi. "Further, for smooth functioning of Tehsil Supply Office Kishtwar, Suresh Kumar, Senior Assistant attached in the office of FCS & CA Kishtwar, shall look after the work of TSO Kishtwar and Shabir Ahmed, Storekeeper Food Store, Chatroo, shall look after the work of Storekeeper Food Store Kishtwar till the suitable arrangements are made by the Competent Authority," reads the order. The order also carried reference of a news report published by Early Times. Also, hundreds of quintals of sugar was embezzled by the concerned official as no sugar was provided to the consumers by the department and majority of which has been sold to private shopkeepers during Diwali. As per the details available with "Early Times", the TSO Kishtwar sold the BPL ration to private parties at higher rates instead of providing the same to the dealers. Former CAPD Minister Zulfikar Ali had suspended him for various frauds, but he managed to get himself reinstated. Even after that the matter was brought into the notice of senior officials of the department who had sought written explanation from the TSO Kishtwar, but nothing was done till DC Kishtwar today ordered his attachment. |
