Udhampur, May 31: The seriousness of Education Department in spreading education among the poor rural masses can be better judged from the fate of school building in Pancheri zone.
The government middle school upper Kalsot building was constructed in 2015. It is alleged that the contractors used sub-standard material in the construction but got the payment.
Surprisingly this was exposed just after few days of opening of the building when in a mild dust storm roofs and windows of the building were blown away.
The children were where they were earlier-under the sun or inside the damaged building
Moreover, sources said that the toilets in the school were not opened for the students and they were seen peeing in the open or in the nearby fields.
The students were force to sit inside the damaged building but they were scared.
Repeated visits of locals to the zonal education Pancheri office and the office of Cheif Education Officer went in vain.
The affected people have appealed to the Governor to look into the matter as the building is very much vulnerable and may fall anytime putting the children to risk. |
