Engineer Rashid-Shah Faesal bonhomie in air for Assembly elections | 'AEP to focus on north, JKPM elsewhere' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 31: The bonhomie between Awami Etihad Party chief Engineer Rashid and former IAS topper Shah Faesal is in the air as the two are likely to go for a pre-poll alliance. Sources said Faesal who has floated Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement is likely to go for a alliance with the former MLA Langate for contesting the Assembly polls in way that both the parties give a "defeat to the regional rivals" including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and the Peoples Conference. Sources said while Faesal looks ahead to contest from one seat in the north Kashmir, other seats would be given to AEP candidates, whereas for south Kashmir the JKPM would be given the field. Sources said the two parties are already finalizing the modalities to go ahead in the Assembly polls. Sources said Faesal has already started concentrating on south Kashmir where his party leaders have started "public contact programs." Sources said JKPM leader Shehla Rashid has been given the assignment in south Kashmir. Faesal, as per the sources, also looks ahead to field his candidates from Jammu region and is finalizing potential candidates. But Engineer Rashid would not extend his party in the winter capital province, the sources said. Sources said the proximity between the two grew after Rashid's performance in the elections for Baramulla parliament seat where he took lead over other parties in atleast five Assembly segments. Interestingly, when Shah Faesal left his job, Engineer Rashid had appealed him to join the AEP as its new leader. But Faesal chose to opt for the floating a new party. However when Engineer Rashid decided to contest Parliament elections, Faesal chose not to contest and asked his supporters to vote for the former MLA of Langate. Sources said both the leaders have been in constant touch with each other and may announce about their joint plans soon. Despite repeated attempts the two leaders in question couldn't be contacted for comments. |
