Governor blames Pakistan for Anantnag attack | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report Srinagar, June 13: Governor Satya Pal Malik today held Pakistan responsible for the attack in South Kashmir's Anantnag district that left five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and dead and many wounded on Wednesday evening. Talking to reporters on the side-lines of the function here at SKICC, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik said that Anantnag attack was carried out on the directions of Pakistan. Governor Malik said that such attacks are being carried out on the directions of Pakistan, saying that these attacks are aimed to disrupt the peace in the Valley. "Fidayeen attacks on the directions of Pakistan are always being carried out in the Valley whenever there is peace. The elections were conducted peacefully and that didn't suit the militant handlers based in Pakistan, therefore they are resorting to such kind of attacks," he said. Referring to a query, Governor Malik added that Anantnag attack was not on yatra as it has not commenced yet. "There is a fool proof security plan in place to ensure smooth conduct of Amarnath yatra," he said. After Lethpora attack in February this year, Anantnag's attack was the second big attack that sent the security forces in tizzy. The responsibility of Anantnag attack was claimed by Al-Umar Mujahideen, a militant outfit. Meanwhile, Governor expressed deep anguish over the loss of CRPF men in yesterday's terrorist attack in Anantnag district. Governor has conveyed that his heart goes out to the departed soldiers and their families. Condemning this cowardly attack, Governor has observed that whenever successful attempts are made by the Security Forces to either conduct peaceful elections or continuous elimination of militants, the masterminds of militants from across the border order them to carry out fidayeen attacks on Forces and yesterday's attack in Anantnag district was also a Fidayeen attack. Governor noted that militants and their handlers should know that our resolve to eliminate this menace is unshakable. In the meantime, Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar said that government will take sufficient precautions while framing the security plan for Amarnath Yatra. "We will look what happened in yesterday's attack and we will also keep such activities whether recent or old in mind while framing the security plan for Yatra," he said while referring to a query. He however said that there was no security lapse in yesterday's attack, saying that "With all intelligence and reports, you can't save yourself from the first burst. The attack was carried out at an isolated place where it is one to one but it was a public place where the movement of civilians was high. An opportunity lies with the first blaze but if you have seen that the attack was repulsed within couple of minutes and the attacker was gunned down at a public place." |
