| 11 yrs on, Dakol school building awaits completion | | |

UDHAMPUR, June 22: The building of Government Primary School Dakol under SSA at tehsil Basanthgarh was damaged in 2008. The department of education, according to locals, sanctioned a new building and the construction started. However, eleven years on, the building awaits completion.
The locals while accusing the department of negligence said the education of their children was at stake.
"Time and again we visited the offices of education department and every-time we got assurances. But the work did not start," Sanjay Kumar a local.
Another local said that the locals have been waiting for the building for eleven years.
The school, at present, functions in a private residence in the village.
The locals and students have appealed to the Governor Satya Paul Malik and DC Udhampur Piyush singla to look into the matter.
They have also threatened to intensify their protest if the school is not completed as soon as it is possible. |
