S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, June 27: Scores of villages remains cut off from the district headquarter, due to want of good road connectivity, Singhpora-Mirangund road in Baramulla district has never been macadamized since 1947 due to political indifference's. "Had not we cast our votes in favour of political leaders so for, if so then we have no right to ask them about the difficulties that we are facing due to want of good roads in our area, said Jaswant Singh of Singhpora Baramulla. During elections we took every challenge to make them successful, but we were always ignored at all fronts, if there is any sort of indifference's between the former MLAs of Sangrama and Baramulla, they should have told us that they cannot solve their problems, like as of roads, said a group of local people from Mirangund and Singhpora. Is it not the fact that every road is being made motorable under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the government wants to develop each and every road in our state by linking cut off villages under the said scheme, but no due attention is being paid off towards our problems and it seems that we have been left at the mercy of God, Sikh brethren of Singhpora Baramulla told early times. They said that, the centrally sponsored scheme, PMGSY was launched in 2000 by the then Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee to provide road connectivity to unconnected villages, and fact of the matter is that, there are scores of villages in Barmaulla district that have not been connected with the district headquarter so for. Syed Aijaz Ahmad of Mirangund said that, Mirangund-Singhpora is just 2 kms distance, many times in past we approached the local MLAs and concerned departments for its macadamization, but all went into vain. Almost dozens of villages like, Wagoora, Vizer, Shrakwara, Nowpora, Mirangund, Khaitangan, Kandi belt, Najhibhat, Singhpora, and its adjacent areas are facing difficulties due to this as they remain cut off during winters with district headquarter, said Aijaz Ahmad. The worst case scenario is when someone falls sick especially pregnant women, and we have to carry her to the nearest hospital Kreeri or Baramulla by Puthkhah. If this road is repaired, it could shorten our distance by almost 20 kms from Putkhah to Baramulla and vice versa, said locals. |
