Munish Gupta's mass contact prog continues with zest
Civic amenities missing in Arjun Vihar of Kunjwani

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 27: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, who would be contesting upcoming Assembly elections as an Independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, on Thursday conducted extensive door to door campaign in Arjun Vihar as part of his mass contact programme.
During his campaign in Lane No. 1 to 4 of Arjun Vihar, Kunjwani, he interacted people from different walks of life and listened patiently to them. The people narrated how their miseries piled up after the BJP came to power as it left the constituency virtually at God's mercy.
The residents said that erratic electric supply, scarcity of water, dilapidated roads and blocked drains have made their lives hell, even as the authorities concerned have turned a blind eye towards their miseries.
The residents criticized successive MLAs from the Congress and the BJP, particularly the BJP MLA Kavinder Gupta who had come with development agenda in 2014 only to befool people.
"In recently held civic bodies election, the former MLA and his candidate of Ward No. 56 made tall claims about providing civic amenities to our locality, but not a single promise was executed on the ground. For example, the road leading to Lane No. 4 of Ekta Vihar is in a dilapidated condition, electric poles have been installed by PDD in the middle of road, causing huge hindrance to the vehicular movement", said Ashish of Ekta Vihar.
"Just opposite to JK Public School, the newly established colony namely Arjun Vihar which recently came under the jurisdiction of City Municipal Corporation, has been reeling under low power voltage. The only transformer having capacity 100 Kv is not sufficient to meet local demands", said Vijay Girdhar, adding that due to low voltage, electric gadgets have gone kaput, while water supply is not reaching to tail end houses.
Dr Mohit told Munish Gupta that the callousness of the authorities can be gauged from the fact that the garbage is littered on Kunjwani Road near JK Public School. Only dustbin installed here is filled with garbage but nobody has come here to empty it.
"In Lane No. 9 of Ekta Vihar, roads are yet to be blacktopped from last 12 years. The lanes and by lanes have turned into potholes which is posing threat to children and aged people," said Hemlata.
Gurmeet Kour said that in last many months "we requested to local representative (ward member) to install streetlights in our lanes and appoint a safaikaramchari for cleaning our drains. But our pleas have been ignored due to unknown reasons."
"The streetlights installed earlier are lying defunct. We registered complaints either telephonically or online but they are not bothered to even respond. This is happening when President rule is in place in our state", said Prabjeet Kour.
