JKNPP protests house arrest of nationalist leaders | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: Panther activists led by Rajesh Padgotra Provincial President JKNPP and other leaders today staged thunderous protest demonstration against the oppressive measures adopted by the Govt, to place the nationalist leaders of the opposition in J&K under house arrest Addressing the media, Rajesh Padgotra regretted that the present dispensation had adopted a highly biased and differential approach in curtailing the freedoms of opposition leaders. "While the leaders of BJP are allowed to hold rallies, public meetings, seminars and inaugurations of civil works despite there being a ban on political activities, the nationalist leaders of opposition were kept under inexplicable detention. It is very much visible that the administration has been indulging in sycophancy of the Saffron leaders and on the contrary harassing the opposition leaders. Could anybody explain why Mr. Harsh Dev Sing has been placed under house arrest for the last 24 days despite his nationalist and secular credentials. Why the government has ruthlessly trampled the freedom of expression of patriotic leaders? Why the administration has enforced two set of laws in dealing with the political leaders?", questioned Padgotra. . Gagan Pratap Singh State Secretary JKNPP lambasted the BJP led government for making a contemptuous mockery of the democracy by placing the opposition leaders of J&K under house arrest."Such unconstitutional and coercive measures are adopted only at the time of national emergency. He further warned that thousand of JKNPP activists would be forced to come on the roads in case the govt persisted with prejudicial approach towards opposition parties and its subservience to Saffron brigade. |
