Horticulture Deptt organizes awareness camp | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Sept 16: Horticulture Department, Ramban organised a one day awareness camp at Seripora, a far-flung area of block Sangaldan under "Development of Anardana Village" initiative of district administration. Chief Horticulture Officer, Ramban, Mukesh Sharma was presided over the function which was attended by the Sarpanches, Panches and orchardists while Horticulture Development Officer, Gool, Mohd. Sharief Malik and other field workers of the department were the resource persons on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion CHO exhorted upon the PRI's to take maximum benefits of project as Ramban district has very high potential of Anardana production. During the discussion various components to be taken up under the project and issues raised by the attendees were discussed in detail with the PRI members. They were also requested to visit horticulture office Ramban along with fruit to watch the functioning of Aril Extraction Machine & Trey Dryer procured. The growers were informed that the efficient extraction and packing of the Anardana can fetch good price of their produce. The importance of IPM/ INM was also shared with the farmers and they were asked to follow the spray schedule on Anardana on collective basis to minimize damage due to insect attack. CHO asked the fruit growers to formulate a joint group to take maximum benefit from "Development of Anardana Village" initiative and other schemes. Department also distributed the Tool kits, Neem oil and Neem cake among the farmers under the project. Chief Horticulture Officer also instructed the field staff for sensitizing orchardists about the importance of soil health, water conservation, Orchard Sanitation and importance of packing. |
