Commuters suffer as Ghordi- Nallah Mallian road in dilapidated condition | | | Arun Jasrotia

UDHAMPUR, Sept 16: A 7-kms long road stretch from Ghordi to Chowki on Ghordi-Ramnagar Road in district Udhampur is in a pathetic condition thereby causing inconveniences to thousands of residents. Villagers alleged that the J&K governments as well as PWD authorities have failed to address the issue. It has also not undertaken macadamisation and blacktopping work on the road. They added that road connectivity is the mirror of development and shows the real progress of a particular area but the road between Ghordi to Nallah Mallian on Ghordi-Ramnagar road is in bad shape. Locals further added that Ghordi Block falls in Tehsil Ramnagar of district Udhampur. As many as twenty seven panchayats including approximately 100 villages fall in Ghordi Block but the area sans better road facilities. Locals of the areas face many problems due to the worst condition of the Ghordi-Nallah Mallian road. Residents of the area suffer a lot as they have to commute on potholed road. During the rains, the potholes on road turns into small ponds filled with dirty water. Resident of Ghordi village while talking to Early Times said that the worst condition of the road has been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned and also before the elected representatives on several occasions but the voice of people remain neglected and unheard at every level. The critical condition of road has badly affected the socio-economic status of the masses of the area. |
