Facing influential businessman's wrath, BMO Bishnah attached
9/16/2019 10:42:03 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 16: Using his influence in the Health Department, a powerful businessman has managed to get the Block Medical Officer (BMO) attached while a probe has also been ordered against the BMO. Sources informed Early Times that the BMO bore the brunt of businessman's ire due to an order issued by him which hurt the business interest of the latter adding that as a retaliatory action, the businessman got the BMO attached by influencing the senior officers in the case.
"Officers acted against the BMO on behest of the businessman for their own personal benefits. The influential businessman has sound links in the Health Department and he often uses those links to get his work done at his own whims and fancies," said sources.
Sources said that the Health Department officials are keeping silence over the matter of attachment and not ready to divulge any details in this regard adding that the officials are only saying that factual position in the case will be known only after the inquiry gets completed.
According to sources, there are two medicine shops inside the Bishnah Hospital out of which one shop is owned by a National Conference (NC) leader.
"The NC leader's shop is plagued with a precarious problem of water-logging as the water enters inside his shop as and when it rains. The Bishnah hospital in the meantime was relocated in a new building due to which several rooms of the old building left vacant after which the BMO issued an order to shift the NC leader's shop to one of the rooms in old building thereby favouring the politician," said sources.
Sources said that issuing the order in favour of the NC leader annoyed the other businessman which prompted him to use his link to ensure punitive action to be taken against the BMO.
"The cause of businessman's displeasure over the order was that it was harming his business interests. His business would have faced a severe dent. The BMO got trapped in the business rivalry of the two traders and was forced to face a punitive action in the process since he took a step which was helping only one of them," said sources.
"The businessman whose influence paved way for an action against the BMO is a renowned person of the area. He has opened his business with the help of the few doctors of the hospital. Many works in the hospital are done as per his wishes. Not only this, he also commands the authority in prescription of medicines and tests to the patients," sources added.
Sources further said that clout of the businessman could be gauged from the fact that anyone else can not step in the hospital premises as far as handling the patients' medicines and providing other allied services.
Sources said that in the BMO's attachment case, the Health Department officials have fully helped him.
"The businessman first appeased the officers and then managed the punitive action to be initiated against the BMO while in order to justify themselves, the Health Department officials are saying that the BMO acted in a wrong way due to which he was attached," said sources.
Sources said that the BMO has been removed and attached while an inquiry in the case is pending adding that a replacement has been made and he will hold the responsibility till the probe is completed.
