Police suspect Lashkar- KZF nexus | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Police suspect an evolving nexus between the banned Lashkar e Taiba and the Khalistan Zindabad Force(KZF) of Punjab. Highly placed sources told Early Times that following intelligence inputs, the police are looking into the possibility of the Pakistan based terror group having links with the KZF which is desperate to revive its network in the neighboring state of Punjab. Sources said the two groups could be working in coordination to destabilize peace and prosperity in north India. The sources added that apart from the Union Home Ministry, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Arminder Singh has been briefed about the shocking developments. Sources said the police have collected evidence that hints that the two groups could be linked to each other through some apprehended sleeper cells active in Punjab. Sources said the two groups were in league for smuggling of arms and ammunition into Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. The shocking revelations have come to forth following investigations into the recovery of arms from a Srinagar bound truck coming from Punjab that was intercepted in Kathua district of Jammu province a few days ago. Apart from recovery of sophisticated weapons, three persons who were travelling by the vehicle including the driver were arrested that time. Sources said two more persons linked to the terror group have been subsequently arrested from south Kashmir. "What was shocking about the incident was that weapons were brought into Kashmir from Punjab… That was enough to convey that arms smuggling has revived there and thus it becomes a really serious issue," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. It is pertinent to mention that the KZF was one of the dreaded terror outfits active in Punjab in 1980s when the terrorism was at its peak in that state. Following a massive crackdown on the terror groups, most of the terrorists linked to KZF were either killed or had fled the country. Now the group looks desperate to revive its base in north India. Despite repeated attempts the concerned couldn't be contacted for comments. |
