Amit ignites young minds during inauguration of "TRAVELISM 2019" | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sep 26: "Travelism 2019", a two-day event which has been organised by Central University of Jammu as a part of celebrations of World Tourism Day in India this year as decided by United Nations World Travel Organization began here today. The programme was organised by Department of Tourism and Travel Management of Central University of Jammu. Amit Sharma, Special Secretary, Summer Secretariat Jammu was the chief guest and a key note speaker on the occasion. Dr Amit Gangotia, Sr Asst Professor Department of TTM, Dr Poonam Sharma, Asst Professor Department of TTM, Manjeet Singh, Asstt Professor Department of TTM and Anju Thapa, Asst Professor Department of M&SCM participated in the programme. At the outset, chief guest Amit Sharma planted two saplings in the outside campus of Central University of Jammu as a Eco-friendly initiative in the presence of Tourism and Travel Management students and the formal inauguration of the two-day celebrations of Travelism-2019. It was followed with a welcome address by Prof Amit Gangotia mentioning the profile of Chief Guest and talked about the details of the programme. It was followed by a knowledge sharing session by Prof Archana Kumari from Department of Mass Communication and New Media. Finally, keynote speaker Amit Sharma who was the main resource person to invigorate and ignite the young minds in jam-packed Committee Room of Central University of Jammu with his eloquent style of deliverance shared his experiences on this year's UNWTO theme "Tourism and Jobs : A Better Future for All". Special Secretary Sharma, during his presidential address, quoted several contemporary examples where Tourism has immensely contributed towards job creation and improving the livelihood of several people whether in urban or rural agglomerations of India as a nation or at different places all across the globe. Amit further mentioned the role of internet, social media and several websites, tourism blogs, vlogs, portals, hotels, ticketing and comparisons can be done by the prospective tourists before planning and finalising their trips and tourism packages and there are ample and long-lasting job opportunities which can be availed in these fields and he assured that a bright future lies ahead in this collusion between IT and Travelism in the present era. Amit Sharma also encouraged young students of CUJ to focus towards creating future tourism hubs and highlighting virgin tourism potential of Jammu division, especially about the lesser known belts like Dudu Basantgarh, Seoj Dhar, Pancheri, Moungri, Gool Gulabgarh, Mahore, Bani, Basohli, etc which offer great scope and future prospects. He advised that CUJ can organise FAM tours of such areas more frequently in future and its students can write, create some documentaries so as to popularise these areas which hold immense potential to compete and beat any tourism site of Europes and Americas. He urged that students should go for entrepreneurial ventures in travel tourism trade which offers great potential of growth in the times to come. Finally, before culmination of the Inauguration Ceremony, Special Secretary Amit Sharma also led a Quiz Competition which was held on tourism and travel themes amongst the students of Central University in which he later distributed prizes amongst winning student teams which included 1st position for Rohit & Midhun, 2nd position for Mukesh & Prem Prakash and 3rd position for Vishwajeet & Priya. |
