JAMMU, Sept 26 : The employees of Power Development Department from all districts of Jammu province on the 'Jammu Chalo PDD Bachao' call of Power Employees and Engineers Coordination Committee (PEECC), staged a massive protest here today against the unilateral move of the government to operationalize the unbundling of the department, without involving the employees who as major stake holders are apprehensive of the move of the Government. Thousands of Engineers, Technical, Clerical Employees in Jammu led by the coordination committee leaders, Er Jaipal Sharma, President DEA and Chairman PEECC, Er MP Singh, Ex President JKEEGA, Er Ramneek Singh, Ex President JKEEGA, Er Sachin, Convenor Forum of Engineers, Er Sushma Parihar, Gen Secy FOJE, Ajaz Kazmi, Gen Secy PPEU, Sanjeev Bali President PPEU, Jasbir Singh, President ITI, Gurmeet Singh, President Central Non-Gazetted Employees Union, PC Sharma, President PEEU, HD Singh, Technical Employees Federation, Kulbir Singh, Secretary EEU, Balbir Singh, President, Draftsman Association, Anil Slathia, Lineman Union, Tarun Gupta, PDD Daily wager/need based Employees Union raised strongly the service issues arising out of non transparency in unbundling. It is pertinent that service issues of 31000 plus employees is at stake as government has failed to assure in terms of a detailed transition plan by publishing the same for the knowledge and perusal of the employees. The PEECC seeks involvement in committee constituted to prepare a comprehensive proposal for apportionment /reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department between UT of Jammu and Kashmir and UT of Ladakh, as PEECC doesn't have faith on the committee constituted as it has member chairman who has to retire in one month and majority of others retiring in six months. The immediate need is to simply apportion the assets to be transferred to Ladakh UT and Corporatization of PDD should be done only after detailed consultations of all stake holders after the formation of JK UT and cadres are properly assured in changed administrative setup. PDD employees vehemently appealed to the Governor that Power development department should be retained as a Government department and allow this large sector of employment opportunity to grow strongly. |
