DIET districts' level buildings turn dilapidated, lack basic amenities

jammu, Sept 27: The district level buildings of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) have turned dilapidated as they were not renovated nor repaired since they were established at different district level.
Sources informed Early Times that most of the district level offices of DIET have no basic amenities like hygienic toilets, water facilities and even manpower to run offices as most of posts of official are lying vacant.
However, the sole purpose of DIET is to conduct different kind of training programmes to improve the quality education and it also help in coordinating and implementing government policies at district level but due to lack of these basic amenities and manpower, the functioning of the institutions have been hampering day by day.
Sources further said that in the meeting of Project Approval Board (PAB) of Samgra Shiksha Abhiyan was held on 12 of June, 2019. In the meeting worth Rs 11.25 Crores has been earmarked for strengthening of infrastructure of 10 DIET institutions in Jammu and Kashmir wherein five district institutions including Samba, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch and Kisthwar were selected but ironically after lapse of three months and delay in release of funds, the renovation of these building are still limbo.
"Out of these earmarked funds, maximum funds of Rs 3 Crores was allocated to DIET Rajour for new construction work of Auditorium and first floor over DIET building, while Rs 2.5 Crores was earmarked to DIET Poonch for repair and renovation of building Rs 70.8 Lacs, Rs 19.47 lacks for construction of library, Rs 82.32 lacks for construction of single room staff residential quarters, Rs 66 lacs for construction of training and conference hall and Rs 13 lacs for construction of toilets blocks", sources added.
Moreover, for DIET Samba Rs 25 lacks was allocated for repair and renovation of main building. Rs 75 lacs allocated for repair and renovation of main building, construction of toilet and hostel for Reasi DIET and nearly 34 lacks was allocated to Kisthwar DIET for repair and renovation of main building.
Another sources said that inordinate delaying in release of funds for renovation of these building is hampering the functioning of the institution as well as employees are being forced to do work under limited resources.
