Police Deptt's queer ways, tainted SIs provided with prime postings
9/30/2019 11:00:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: The tall claims of the state government to deal sternly with corruption have fallen flat as some of the Sub Inspectors (SIs) of the 2010 batch in the Police Department, who were caught red-handed in corruption charges are being felicitated by giving them prime postings in Jammu without going into the scrutiny of their past service record.
Highly placed police sources, seeking anonymity, disclosed that though the corruption cases were running against some of the sub-inspectors of 2010 batch but it has no bearing while picking them for prime postings.
"Surprisingly, despite corruption charges, they are serving at different key locations in Jammu province with the the blessings of some senior officers of the department," the sources said.
"Recently, a Sub Inspector, currently posted in the Police Station of Jammu city is eying a prime location in the city. To grab the prime post, the said officer is knocking the doors of the senior officers to register himself in their good books so that personal interest could be secured in his favour," sources added.
Police sources further said that aforesaid officer, who is facing corruption charges, was posted in Doda-Kishtwar Range before getting posted in Jammu city and now he is eyeing on a Police Post in a posh area of Jammu city.
Besides, two other Sub Inspectors of 2010 batch, who are facing the same charges have served in Udhampur-Reasi and Rajouri-Poonch Ranges after that and are now deputed at some other locations.
It seems that the senior officers of the Police Department are in some sort of hurry as they are assigning new postings to the tainted police officials without checking their past record, thus making a mockery of the government claims.
