Kashmir-centric leaders in dock, Shah hints at prolonged detention
9/30/2019 11:00:21 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hinted that Kashmir-centric leaders may not be released soon. His statement that Sheikh Abdullah was jailed for 11 years and no one questioned the Congress government for it, is an indication that Kashmiri politicians have a long way to go.
"When Nehru realized his mistake of taking Kashmir to the United Nations, he jailed Sheikh Abdullah for 11 years. Now it has been only two months but people have talked so much about jailed J&K politicians," Shah said.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Kashmir-centric politicians are reaping what they have sown during the past 70 years. Had they remained loyal to the country and safeguarded the national interests, they would have not been jailed today."
He said that incumbent government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi means business and its clear that it won't tolerate any anti-national rhetoric. "The politicians, who have been jailed, should thank their stars for not being lodged at central jail like ordinary prisoners. They are being treated like guests in a five star hotel on the banks of Dal Lake and special huts," the analyst added.
He said, "Reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir has punctured the claims of the Kashmir-centric politicians that J&K's accession with Union of India was temporary. It is left them red-faced as for the past seven decades they have been just telling lies to the people and selling dreams."
An observer said, "Mainstream politicians during all these years made no effort to tell people of Kashmir that Azadi is an illusion. They lack courage and guts to tell truth to the people that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and no power can snatch it."
According to the media reports a few PDP and NC leaders, who have been released from detention have signed bonds to secure their release. "They have assured the government that they won't issue any provocative statements and nor would they indulge in any such activity which can lead to law and order problem," the media reports stated.
Another analyst said, "One hopes that Kashmir-centric leaders learn from the mistakes which they have committed in the past. If they want to secure their release they should take a pledge to stop harping about Pakistan and Azadi and concentrate on what they can do for the people. If they continue to remain stubborn then there is every possibility about they being kept in jail for at least one decade and Home Minister has already given a hint about it."
