Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 7: Intention behind holding BDC polls was to strengthen democracy at grassroots level, these polls are utmost necessary for empowering people especially those hailing from rural hamlets. This crucial aspect has been keenly evinced by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, and it is under his realm that State is adopting such kind of political reforms which are essential for ensuring democracy to flourish as never before. This was stated by BJP State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi in a press communiqué issued on Monday. He said that BJP will make it sure that only those candidates who have high credentials will represent party in the forthcoming BDC polls. "The sole aim of these elections was to empower the people at the grass-root level", he said adding that BDC polls will help mainstream parties to gauge the nerve of people especially rural masses to have a better idea of their issues so that necessary steps could be taken to bring contentment in the life of people who were suffering for the past more than 70 years. He said that BDC polls will give momentum to development work in J&K. "It is unfortunate that political class that ruled J&K for decades together didn't toed such a line so that people can enjoy democracy to its fullest. It is only Modi-led BJP which has ensured that people lead a life full of satisfaction", he said and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the historic decision of revoking J&K's special status and strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state. He said this is for the first time in the past seven decades that a three-tier system is being put in place in the state. He said that repealing of Art 370 is the recent example that BJP Govt is working for the welfare of common masses of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
