Even more than a year after divorce, no one knows who signed the document | Mystery continues enshrouding PDP-BJP's AoA | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 7: Even when more than a year has passed since the BJP and PDP ended their alliance at a sour note in Jammu and Kashmir, the question whether there was an agenda of alliance in reality between the two continues to remain a mystery. On June 19, 2018 the BJP pulled the rug beneath of PDP's feet and ended the coalition government , paving way for the imposition of governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Prior to this, the PDP had been maintaining the rhetoric that the alliance was being guided by the Agenda of Alliance or AoA signed between the two parties after the hectic deliberations for two months post the fracture mandate accorded by 2014 polls. Even when more than a year has passed since the alliance ended, what is turning out to be a questionable entity is that no union minister till date has ever uttered a single word about the CMP signed between PDP and state BJP and even the Prime Minister didn't mention anything about such a document at the time of swearing-in ceremony of then then chief minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed held in March 2015. Also, serious questions were being raised from several quarters that why the PDP and BJP in JK was not making it public that who approved the CMP for JK in New Delhi. Sources say that the BJP top leadership in New Delhi doesn't even know what the agenda of alliance was? They added that even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had not even read its contents- let alone approve or disapprove it. The Agenda of Alliance between the BJP and PDP grabbed much media attention in the past as it was used extensively by the then state government but its credibility came under the shadow at the time when the Government of India had out rightly rejected state government's plea over bringing back the power projects from NHPC. Contrary to this latest development, the agenda of alliance document read, "Explore modalities for transfer of Dulhasti and Uri hydro power projects to J&K as suggested by the Rangarajan Committee Report and the Round Table reports. Secure a share in the profits of NHPC emanating from J&K waters to the state government. Revise all royalty agreements." Experts are of the opinion that if GOI would have approved the agenda of alliance in Jammu and Kashmir between PDP and BJP then it would have never so publicly back tracked from its commitment about power projects. This development coming from the union power ministry was seen as the first major blow to the document- which claimed to be governing the erstwhile state. Interestingly, both the BJP and PDP ministers present in the meeting held at New Delhi at that time haven't even uttered a word that the return of the power projects was included in the agenda of alliance. Now, when 370 has been abrogated and Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a union territory, it will be interesting to see whether the government ever come out with the truth and end the mystery. |
