Jammu, Oct 7: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre celebrated World Habitat Day at Channi Himmat, Jammu. A seminar on the theme "Frontier Technologies as an innovative tool to transform waste to wealth" was organized in which large number of engineers, professionals and members of the civil society participated. On this occasion Er. V. N. Sharma, FIE; Former Member REC, Northern Region, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India was the Chief Guest and Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE; Chairman, IEI Jammu Centre presided over the function. 3 numbers technical papers on the theme were presented by Er. S. C. Thukral, FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE and Er. Anil Verma, MIE. The speakers dwelt at length about the present state of affairs of generation of all types of wastes in the country and their consequences thereof. Er. Anil Verma spoke about management of E-Waste and suggested ways to convert this waste into wealth. Er. V. N. Sharma, Chief Guest informed the house about the frontier technologies for conversion of waste into wealth. Interestingly, he mentioned about construction of roads from plastic waste mixed with bitumen which minimizes bitumen consumption and enables fruitful disposal of plastic waste. Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE, Honorary Secretary of the centre conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented vote of thanks. |
