NH44 closed for 2nd consecutive day | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Oct 11: Traffic remained suspended for second day on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway after there was heavy landslide near four laning work of National Highway at Mirah area of district Ramban. After getting information officials of administration and Traffic Police reached the spot and started work to clear the road besides men and machinery were put on job to clear the highway. Hundreds of vehicles from Srinagar to Jammu including heavy and light motor vehicles carrying essential commodities like vegetables and fruits were stranded on the NHW near the landslide area whereas traffic congestion was also witnessed in Ramban town as light motor vehicles were diverted through the bypass road of the town to avoid further traffic jam. Movement of local vehicles was also badly affected and people faced difficulties to reach their destinations from the early morning as the whole town was changed into transport yard. Arun Singh Raju, a local, alleged that poor skill quality of construction companies has put on stake the whole National Highway resulting continuous landslides owing the negligence of construction company. |
