JAMMU, Oct 12: In another cause for Capacity Building, Enhancing Quality and Excellence of University Fraternity under Bench Mark Lecture Series(RUSA-Phase(II), the UGC-HRD Centre , University of Jammu , Jammu organized a Lecture on "Harnessing the Power of Immune System for Human Health" which was delivered by internationally acclaimed and son of the soil Biologist, Prof Anil Baemzai, Director Graduate Program, Villanova University, Nova- PA(USA) . The participants were made aware by the learned scholar to the power of our immune system for health and wellness, especially in the context of Cancer, autoimmunity, allergies and other immune related disorders. He emphasized on harnessing the power of patients own immune system to fight various diseases, in general, and highly prevalent cancer, in particular. He advocated the use of therapy based on "Immune Checkpoint Blockade" which accelerates lymphocyte response against cancer cells. The response to the lecture was overwhelming and was very interactive and all students, scholars, faculty of the University of Science Departments attended the Lecture which was presided over by the Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Prof Dhar also threw light on the role of Genes and T-Cells in the context of various diseases afflicting our society. |
